Record level of Gardline cable route surveys

Fri, 28 October 2016

Great Yarmouth, UK-based Gardline Marine Sciences, which specialises in worldwide hydrographic, geophysical, environmental, oceanographic and geotechnical surveys, reports that it has so far surveyed in excess of 25,000km of cable routes during this year alone.

Operations are the outcome of a significant number of contracts for pre-installation route surveys involving acquisition and reporting of geophysical and seabed sampling data from shore ends to full ocean depths, it says.

Multiple operations for proposed telecommunication routes in the Indian Ocean, Atlantic and Asia Pacific regions have been completed using a number of the company’s fleet of over 20 dedicated survey vessels.  One of them, the 80-metre Ocean Observer, has recently been upgraded with new survey and sampling systems for deep water undertakings in response to increased demand for Gardline’s integrated services.  Apart from wide-ranging seismic and other activities, these also include an expanding range of nearshore and landfall activities carried out across five continents with active support of principal international offices in the US, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, Brazil and the UK.
