Submarine cable protection, laying and cable removal

Pre-qualification for decommissioning of three cables and replacement with two new submarine cables in Danish Waters.

Description of the Projects

Project 1. JFK In 2017 two existing 150 kV submarine cable connections has reached the end of their lifetime and need to be decommisioned.

The cable connections are from Als to Funen and across Kolding Fjord. In addition two new 150 kV submarine cable connection, one between Fredericia and Funen and one between Als and Funen will reinforce the grid on Funen.

Project 2. Storstrømmen Energinet.dk owns and operates 3 submarine cable systems in the strait that will have to be decommissioned and removed in connection with a new bridge being constructed. In addition two cable connections connecting Masnedø and Zealand will have to be removed due to developments in Vordingborg harbour.

Therefore the Danish client has decided to replace these three cables with a new submarine cable connection to secure the power flow between Zealand and the Islands of Falster and Lolland.

The client is looking to pre-qualify three companies for the tender capable of protection via jetting or pre-trenching of cables, removal of old cables and transport and laying og new cables.
